MAYPOLE

Dancing the Maypole was an ancient tradition observed at midsummer or May Day. Although the tournament is a little late for true midsummer, the climate is certainly right for the maypole!

The tall pole is draped with ribbon, which are then held by dancers and wrapped around the pole as the dance continues.

A merry dance and a truly medieval one. The maypole will be danced twice over the weekend, once on Saturday morning, and again on Sunday afternoon.
